Arizona Grand Resort Expansion: Major Rezoning Approved

The City of Phoenix has approved a major amendment to the Pointe South Mountain Planned Community District (PCD) for the Arizona Grand Resort PUD. This rezoning, encompassing 60.70 acres, transitions the site from various commercial, office, multifamily, and resort zoning districts to a Planned Unit Development (PUD) PCD. The amendment permits a diverse mix of uses, including multifamily residential units, hotel accommodations, restaurants, ballrooms, conference rooms, and various commercial activities.

Why it matters

This significant rezoning supports the expansion and enhancement of the Arizona Grand Resort, aligning with the city’s goals of promoting economic development and tourism. The project will introduce new hotel rooms, conference spaces, and multifamily residences, boosting local employment opportunities and economic activity. Additionally, the development incorporates sustainable design elements such as shaded pedestrian pathways, electric vehicle charging stations, and enhanced landscaping with native plants, contributing to the city’s environmental sustainability initiatives.
