The City of Houston has approved the creation of Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 585, covering 190.595 acres of vacant land. The proposed district will be developed for single-family residential purposes. Wastewater treatment will be provided by the Chocolate Bayou Wastewater Treatment Plant, and potable water will be supplied by the City. The district is located near Sims Bayou and Salt Water Ditch, within the Sims Bayou watershed. Portions of the land are located within the 100-year floodplain (3.59%) and the 500-year floodplain (28.63%).
This district creation supports new residential development in an area that requires well-coordinated infrastructure. It ensures proper wastewater treatment, water distribution, and storm water management while helping to manage growth in the region.
