Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is authorized to acquire ten permanent easements and eighteen temporary construction easements through negotiation or eminent domain for the 45th Avenue SW Culvert Replacement Project. This project aims to replace a failing 24-inch culvert that impedes fish passage in Fauntleroy Creek with a 14-foot-wide, 237-foot-long, three-sided, open-bottom culvert. The new culvert will meet Washington State requirements for fish passage and stream flows. The project also includes restoring wetland, riparian, and streambed habitat upstream and downstream, and creating a public amenities area with a stair system for worker access. The project budget includes approximately $1.2 million for property acquisitions.
