An ordinance to rezone parcels in the Lake City neighborhood to facilitate the rebuilding of the Lake City Community Center in a mixed-use building. The project will include a new community center at the ground level and multiple stories of rent- and income-restricted affordable housing above it. The rezone aims to increase development capacity for housing and community-serving uses, maintain Mandatory Housing Affordability requirements, and provide a gradual transition between higher and lower intensity zoned areas. The previous community center was damaged by fire in 2023, prompting this innovative partnership between Seattle Parks and Recreation and the Seattle Office of Housing.
