The city of Phoenix is seeking to enter into three-year contracts with employers and other entities to expand its Registered Apprenticeship Programs. This initiative, guided by the Phoenix Business and Workforce Development Board, aims to strengthen the regional talent pipeline, particularly in high-demand sectors like semiconductor and advanced manufacturing. The Community and Economic Development Department (CEDD) will act as the program sponsor and fiscal intermediary, managing funds and ensuring compliance. The program, developed with partners like Maricopa Community College District and TSMC Arizona, combines paid employment with structured technical instruction. Initial programs include Industrial Maintenance, Manufacturing, and Nanotechnology Technicians. The total value of the contracts will not exceed $650,000 over three years, funded through employer agreements with no impact on the city's General Fund.
