The City Council formally ratified the Planning Hearing Officer's recommendation to approve modifications to two stipulations related to a development at the southwest corner of Hohokam Expressway (48th Street) and University Drive. The original stipulations, dated July 6, 2007, referred to outdated site plans and elevations for a hotel and conference center project. The modifications replace these with references to new site plans and elevations dated May 14, 2025. The site, approximately 2.54 acres and zoned C-2 M-R, is intended for a Townplace Suites by Marriott hotel and conference center. The Planning Hearing Officer also recommended three additional stipulations concerning archaeological surveys and testing due to the site's archaeological sensitivity. The South Mountain Village Planning Committee previously recommended approval of these modifications by a 14-0 vote.
