The City Council conditionally approved the abandonment of a 3-foot by 650.39-foot public utility easement (PUE), totaling approximately 1,951 square feet, located on the south side of the property at 4507 N. 45th Avenue. The applicant, Tirso Gonzalez, requested the abandonment to facilitate the redevelopment of the property, stating that the existing PUE is not necessary for the new development. City staff from the Planning and Development Department, Water Services, Site Planning, Street Transportation Utility Coordination, and Streetlights departments recommended approval without stipulations. Several utility companies, including Cox, Southwest Gas, Arizona Public Service, CenturyLink, and Salt River Project, also reviewed the request and generally raised no objections, although CenturyLink stipulated that the applicant would bear the cost of relocation and repair if their facilities were found within the abandoned area.
