The City Council of Philadelphia approved the renaming of the 2100 Block of McClellan Street to "Christine E. Thomas Way." This resolution honors Christine E. Thomas for her extensive service to her community and the City of Philadelphia over five decades. Mrs. Thomas, who resided on the 2100 block of McClellan Street for over 50 years, was involved in numerous community organizations and initiatives. Her contributions include serving on the Executive Board for Dixon House, the Board of Trustees for Community Legal Services, and the Board of Director for the Parents Union for Public Schools. She also volunteered with the Voter Registration Division, led community projects in Mayor Wilson Goode's Volunteer Program, and worked as a Housing Specialist with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Furthermore, she was a board member for the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now and was involved with the National Council of Negro Women.
