The City Council is considering recommendations from the Transportation Committee (August 27, 2025) and the Arts, Parks, Libraries, and Community Enrichment Committee (September 9, 2025) regarding the repair and reactivation of the Panorama City Recreation Center Splash Pad and the construction of the Allegheny Park Splash Pad. The Panorama City splash pad has been out of service since 2019 and recently broke down again after a brief reactivation. The Allegheny Park splash pad construction is delayed due to vehicles blocking access. The recommendations instruct the Department of Recreation and Parks (RAP) to report within 30 days on specific timelines, malfunction assessments, community outreach plans, equipment upgrade needs, cost estimates, permit summaries, projected milestones, anticipated opening dates, and to identify other cooling amenities. Additionally, RAP, with the Department of Transportation, is instructed to expedite vehicle removal at Allegheny Park to allow construction to proceed.
