The City Council of Jacksonville approved Ordinance 2025-656, appropriating $10,000 from the Special Council Contingency account to the Kids Hope Alliance Fund (10901) for the Indian Cultural Society of Jacksonville, Inc. (ICS). This grant will fund the Indian Cultural Preservation and Community Education Programs, which aim to preserve Indian cultural values and raise awareness among youth and the community through workshops and events. The program will cover educational youth activities, cultural workshops (Indian arts, languages, culture, traditions), and cultural showcase events (dance, arts, music, food) primarily during the last quarter of calendar year 2025. The ordinance also includes provisions for carryover of funds to fiscal year 2025-2026, amends the Eighth Revised Schedule M to Ordinance 2024-511-E, and waives competitive procurement requirements for the services provided by ICS, allowing the Kids Hope Alliance (KHA) to directly contract with ICS. The Mayor or designee and the Corporation Secretary, and/or the CEO of the KHA are authorized to execute a grant agreement with ICS for an amount not exceeding $10,000.
