The City of Houston approved an ordinance authorizing a Subrecipient Agreement with Wesley Community Center, Inc. of Houston, Texas, for up to $580,264.00 in HOME Investment Partnerships Program – American Rescue Plan (HOME-ARP) and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. This program is part of Mayor Whitmire's initiative to end street homelessness in Houston. Wesley's Homeless Prevention Program will serve a minimum of 35 households annually, focusing on those at risk of or experiencing homelessness, primarily through referrals from The Way Home’s Coordinated Entry System. Services provided will include financial assistance, case management, food, transportation, outreach services, and other supportive services such as income/employment supports and referrals to wrap-around services. The funding is divided over two years, with approximately 90% allocated to program services and 10% to administration. The initial agreement period runs from the date of countersignature to August 31, 2026, with an optional one-year renewal. Wesley was selected after responding to a Request for Expression of Interest in March 2025.
