Columbus City Council authorized the Director of the Department of Public Utilities to enter into a professional engineering services contract with Jacobs Engineering Group Inc for the Southerly Water Reclamation Plant (SWRP) Switching Station Replacement project. The contract, valued at $4,622,182.00, is for Design Development services, including a basis of design report, preliminary design report, and 30% design drawings for new switching stations and relocation of the Division of Power Substation. The project will prepare for future power distribution needs and allow a new cogeneration facility to operate effectively. Two future modifications are anticipated for the remainder of the design and engineering services during construction, with the total project cost estimated at $18,622,182.00. The project is financed by a Water Pollution Control Loan Fund (WPCLF) loan, and the ordinance is contingent upon the Ohio Water Development Authority's approval of the loan, expected in September 2025.
