This ordinance authorizes the Director of the Recreation and Parks Department to enter into a $900,000.00 contract with Claire Weisz Architects LLP DBA WXY Architecture + Urban Design for the preliminary engineering phase of the Linden Green Line Project. The project aims to create a 58-acre linear park, approximately seven miles long, through underserved areas of Central Ohio, impacting over 131,000 nearby residents. The park will feature a 10 to 12-foot wide ADA-accessible multi-use path, native forests, meadows, open green spaces, and small-scale amenities, with over 40 potential access points. This initial phase will establish the project's vision and framework, including design concepts, access strategies, ecological restoration plans, cost estimates, permitting strategies, and an economic development study. A robust community engagement plan for the Linden and Northland Communities is a central component. Construction is planned in two or three phases, with the first phase anticipated to bid in Fall 2027.
