The City Council authorized the Board of Health to accept a grant from the Ohio Department of Health for the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program. The grant, totaling $7,396,219.00, will fund the program for the period of October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026. The primary objective of the WIC program is to provide nutritionally desirable food and nutrition education to pregnant and lactating women, infants, and children at nutritional risk in Franklin County who meet categorical, income, and nutritional risk requirements for eligibility. The ordinance also authorizes the appropriation of these funds from the unappropriated balance of the Health Department Grants Fund and allows the City Auditor to transfer appropriations between object classes as needed. The ordinance was declared an emergency measure to prevent delays in service and rental contracts due to the grant start date.
