This ordinance authorizes the City of Columbus to issue unlimited tax bonds for up to $51,535,000.00 to fund recreation and parks-related capital improvement projects. The proceeds will be used for various projects within the 2025 Capital Improvement Budget, including acquiring, constructing, renovating, and improving infrastructure for the Department of Recreation and Parks. These projects encompass municipal parks, playgrounds, recreation facilities, real estate acquisition, landscaping, and related furnishings and equipment. The City Auditor has certified that the estimated life of these improvements exceeds five years, with a maximum bond maturity of seventeen years. Emergency passage was requested to allow for timely bond sale transaction to capitalize on market conditions.
