The City Council authorized the Director of the Department of Neighborhoods to enter into a non-profit grant agreement with St. Stephen’s Community Services, Inc. dba St. Stephen’s Community House for up to $38,558.00. This funding is for the Food and Nutrition Center (FNC) Delivery Program, which addresses food insecurity in the Linden community. The program provides food boxes (35-40 pounds per household) to vulnerable residents who cannot access traditional food pantries due to lack of transportation, physical disability, or being homebound. The FNC Delivery Program operates four days a week, delivering food boxes to over 225 residents twice a month. The funding will cover payroll and administrative costs for pantry assistants and delivery drivers. The program has seen a 29% increase in delivery services compared to the previous year, providing 42,500 meals to the Linden community. Approximately 80% of households receiving delivery services include senior citizens and/or minor children. This initiative aligns with the One Linden Community Plan's goal to support resident health by ensuring access to healthy foods.
