The City Council adopted the Charlotte Future 2040 Community Area Plans (CAPs) and a Revised Policy Map. The CAPs are the second major implementation item of the Charlotte Future 2040 Comprehensive Plan (adopted in June 2021) and the Charlotte Future 2040 Policy Map (adopted in March 2022). These plans provide detailed policy guidance for each area on land use, urban design, transportation, open space, and infrastructure. The CAPs consist of Volume I - Program Guide and Volume II - CAP Policy. Volume I outlines the plans' purpose and how they affect users, including policies for modifying the citywide Policy Map. Volume II, the main body of the 14 CAPs, addresses each geography's profile, needs, goals, recommended development patterns, and supporting projects and programs. The Revised Policy Map was updated through the CAP planning process.
