The City of Seattle and Seattle Public School District No. 1 (SPS) entered into an interlocal agreement and a development agreement with Memorial Stadium Redevelopment LLC (MSR) for the extensive redevelopment of Memorial Stadium. This project involves replacing the existing facility with a new, state-of-the-art multi-purpose sports, educational, and entertainment stadium, designed to accommodate 8,000 attendees (6,500 seated and 1,500 on berm seating and concourses). The minimum scope includes four locker rooms, covered stands, ticket booths, team training facilities, concessions, restrooms, Title IX compliant accommodations, a synthetic turf playing field, and the restoration of the landmarked Memorial Wall. Additionally, the project encompasses new public open space, improved site circulation and access, and the replacement and upgrade of a sanitary sewer main owned by Seattle Public Utilities (SPU). The total estimated project budget is $139.2 million, funded through contributions from SPS ($69.3 million), the City of Seattle ($37 million from Capital Improvement Program, plus $3.95 million in Commerce Grant Funding), and MSR ($28.95 million from donor funds). The design will adhere to LEED Silver rating standards, ADA requirements, and specific City and SPS design guidelines.
