The San Francisco City Council approved an ordinance authorizing the acquisition and renovation of the property at 601-617 Laguna Street to create a new assisted living facility. The property, a two-story building totaling 10,300 square feet, was acquired from Pacifica SFO LLC for an initial purchase price of $11,030,000. The total project cost is not to exceed $20,000,000, which includes $8,140,000 for improvements and repairs, an $800,000 city contingency, and $30,000 for closing costs. The facility is licensed for 47 beds, with an estimated operational capacity of 40 assisted living beds for low-income seniors and adults with disabilities. As part of the agreement, Pacifica SFO LLC is responsible for curing pre-existing seismic deficiencies at their own cost and will also manage the renovation project. The project is funded by Proposition C funds and is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2026. Certain administrative code contracting requirements were waived, but prevailing wages, a local business enterprise utilization program, and local hire policies apply.
