The ordinance amends the Building and Planning Codes in San Francisco. It extends an existing awning amnesty program to include unpermitted signs and gates installed before August 20, 2023. This program streamlines the permitting process for these existing structures, though the waiver of application and enforcement fees ended on July 1, 2025. Additionally, the legislation removes specific design standards for gates, railings, and grillwork on ground-floor street frontages of non-historic buildings located in Neighborhood Commercial, Residential-Commercial, Commercial, and Mixed-Use Districts. For historic buildings in these districts, new installations of gates, railings, and grillwork must be at least 75% open to perpendicular views. The Board of Supervisors affirmed the Planning Department's environmental determination and consistency with the General Plan.
