The San Francisco Board of Supervisors on June 17, 2025 conditionally disapproved the Planning Commission’s approval of a Conditional Use Authorization (Planning Case No. 2022-009819CUA) for the redevelopment and expansion of the residential care facility at 3400 Laguna Street, and approved the authorization with a revision to Finding 6(L). The project amends an existing Planned Unit Development to demolish two of five buildings (the Perry Connector and Health Care Center), construct two new buildings (Bay and Francisco buildings), renovate two other buildings, and improve the historic Julia Morgan building. It adds approximately 58,380 square feet of institutional use and increases residential care suites from 86 to 109. All other conditions imposed by the Planning Commission remain unchanged. The Board directed Planning Preservation staff to conduct a final review and return to the Commission for an informational presentation before building permits are issued.
