Resolution File No. 250524 designates the commemorative street name 'Dr. Amos C. Brown Way' to the 800 and 900 blocks of Pierce Street, between Fulton Street and Golden Gate Avenue, in San Francisco. This designation honors Dr. Brown's extensive leadership in civil rights and community-building, particularly upon his retirement as Senior Pastor of Third Baptist Church. Dr. Brown's activist career began with youth involvement in the NAACP, he participated in the Freedom Rides, and has led Third Baptist Church since 1976. Under his leadership, the church stabilized the F.D Haynes Gardens housing complex, established youth programs, and provided services for seniors. He also led the San Francisco chapter of the NAACP. The Department of Public Works is directed to add this honorary street name to its official list. The Land Use and Transportation Committee recommended it, and the Board of Supervisors adopted it.
