The Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution initiating the landmark designation of the Chula-Abbey Early Residential Historic District in San Francisco's Mission Dolores neighborhood under Article 10 of the Planning Code. The district is comprised of 39 residential buildings, encompassing properties on Chula Lane, Abbey Street, Dolores Street, and 17th Street. These buildings, primarily constructed between 1865 and 1915, include single-family homes, row-houses, and two- to three-story flats. They represent early residential and agricultural development, as well as post-1906 reconstruction architecture. This action requests the Planning Department to prepare a landmark designation report for the Historic Preservation Commission's review of the district's historical, architectural, aesthetic, and cultural value. The resolution also extends the deadline for the Planning Department's review to a total of 180 days.
