The Department of Public Works is directed to install the new honorary signage following Arts Commission design approval and Director of Public Works review under Public Works Code Section 789 et seq. This designation honors Garcia’s role as a founding member of the Grateful Dead, his commitment to accessible music and community building, and the annual Jerry Day celebrations at McLaren Park. The resolution highlights Garcia’s Excelsior roots and is intended to foster neighborhood pride and cultural recognition.
