This ordinance, Bill No. 250532, enacted on June 12, 2025, amends Section 9-213 of The Philadelphia Code concerning "Farmers' Markets." The amendment specifically redefines the permissible boundaries for farmers' markets, including modifications to the location on North 22nd Street. It now permits farmers' markets on the sidewalks and adjoining curb lanes of both the east and west sides of the 700 block of North 22nd Street. Additionally, the ordinance explicitly permits a farmers' market within the southeastern quadrant of Julian F. Abele Park, an area bounded by 22nd Street, Carpenter Street, Montrose Street, and private residences. The previous regulation for the 500 block of South 43rd Street remains, allowing Thursday use on the sidewalk and curb lane, and Saturday use (excluding sidewalks) between Baltimore Avenue and Chester Avenue. Councilmember Young sponsored this bill, which was referred to the Committee on Streets and Services before its final action.
