The City Council of Philadelphia adopted Ordinance No. 240750 to rename the property at 5826 McMahon Street—formerly known as the Waterview Recreation Center—as the Donna Reed Miller Playground. Section 1 officially renames and dedicates the facility in honor of the late Councilmember Donna Reed Miller, while Section 2 stipulates immediate effect upon signing. The ordinance passed council review on May 8, 2025, and was signed by the Mayor on May 28, 2025. No changes to zoning, land use rights, or development standards are enacted by this measure. The site’s existing setbacks, density allowances, height limits, parking requirements, and lot coverage remain unchanged. This action recognizes Miller’s decades of advocacy for public recreation and community services in Southwest Philadelphia. By dedicating the playground in her name, the city preserves her legacy and strengthens local civic identity.
