The New York City Council approved Introduction No. 1338, a local law to co-name 128 thoroughfares and public places across the five boroughs. This initiative, based on requests from various Council Members, seeks to honor notable individuals, community groups, and institutions for their contributions to the city. The comprehensive list of co-named locations includes streets, intersections, and public squares in Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Staten Island. Of the 128 co-namings, 16 are either a relocation of a previously enacted co-naming or a revision to existing street signs. The legislation was enacted after being on the City Council agenda and heard by the Committee on Parks and Recreation on July 14, 2025. The estimated cost for installing the new street signs is $36,800, funded from the General Fund.
