On May 28, 2025, the New York City Council approved Application C 250014 ZMK, the Atlantic Avenue Mixed-Use Plan, rezoning multiple lots along Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn Community Districts 3 and 8 to establish the Special Atlantic Avenue Mixed-Use District (AAM). The plan eliminates the existing C2-4 overlay within R7A and R7D districts and removes the Special Mixed Use District (MX-20), and remaps underlying zoning to a combination of R7A, R7D, R7-2, M1-2A/R6A, M1-3A, M1-4A/R9A, C4-3A, C4-5D, and C6-3A. It also establishes new C2-4 commercial overlays within R6A and R7A districts and modifies bulk regulations, height limits, and street wall requirements to encourage transit-oriented mixed-use development. The rezoning supports community facility space, light industrial uses, and streamlined conversions of manufacturing zones for housing and commercial activities, creating a cohesive mixed-use corridor along Atlantic Avenue.
