The Metropolitan Council of Nashville and Davidson County approved a resolution exempting Groceries, Etc., located at 95 South 16th Street, from the minimum distance requirements for obtaining an on-sale beer permit pursuant to Section 7.08.090.E of the Metropolitan Code. The exemption was granted following a public hearing held on April 15, 2025, after the Council received the requisite twenty-one affirmative votes. Under Section 7.08.090.A, beer permits are prohibited within 100 feet of certain protected uses, including one- and two-family residences, and Groceries, Etc. falls within this prohibited buffer. Section 7.08.090.E allows retail food stores to be exempted by resolution, enabling Groceries, Etc. to proceed with its beer permit application before the Metropolitan Beer Board. The Council directed the Metropolitan Clerk to transmit a copy of the resolution to the Board’s Executive Director. This resolution takes effect immediately upon passage.
