The Los Angeles City Council authorized the Los Angeles Housing Department (LAHD) to accept a special allocation of $1,000,000 in Emergency Solutions Grant-Rapid Unsheltered Survivor Housing (ESG-RUSH) federal grant funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These funds are intended to address the needs of individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness due to the windstorm wildfire disaster. The decision includes authorizing LAHD to execute a contract with the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) for up to $970,000 of the funds, with $925,000 allocated for Rapid Re-housing and $45,000 for LAHSA Administration. The contract term for these services is from February 4, 2025, to February 3, 2027. The grant funds will support various activities including emergency shelter, rapid rehousing, rental assistance, housing relocation and stabilization services, and supportive services for the homeless population. The remaining $30,000 is allocated to LAHD for administration. The overall aim is to help displaced individuals and families quickly transition into stable housing.
