The Los Angeles City Council voted to abandon proceedings for the Van Nuys Boulevard and Otsego Street No. 1 Lighting District. This decision came after a weighted majority of 'no' ballots were submitted by property owners, as required by Proposition 218 of the State Constitution. The proposed assessment for the improvement and maintenance of lighting in the district failed to pass. As a result, the City will not impose the assessment, and any previously installed streetlights related to this district will be removed from service. This action repeals Ordinance No. 188551, which had contemplated these improvements. The final public hearing for the assessment ballot tabulation occurred on May 6, 2025.
