The Los Angeles City Council considered the assessment ballot proceeding for the Encino Avenue and Ventura Boulevard No. 1 Lighting District. In accordance with Proposition 218, property owners within the proposed district were notified and received assessment ballots weighted by the amount of their proposed assessment. The Street Lighting Maintenance Assessment District received a majority of weighted ballots in favor of the assessment by the final hearing date of May 6, 2025. As a result, the City could impose additional annual maintenance assessments. The Council's action included denying protests against the assessments and adopting an ordinance to levy the assessments and order the maintenance of the lighting system for 12 months ending June 30, 2025. The total assessment approved was $822.41.
