The City Council approved a motion to appropriate up to $41,874 of unspent HHAP-2 funds for critical repairs at the Council District 8 Navigation Center located at 729 W Manchester Avenue. A leak in the facility’s shower floors had caused water to accumulate in the elevator pit, rendering the elevator inoperable and taking two ADA-compliant showers offline until the water damage was addressed. The General Services Department’s Construction Forces Division assessed the site and provided a repair estimate of $41,874, which includes a 20 percent contingency. In coordination with the City Administrative Officer, Homeless Housing, Assistance, and Prevention Round 2 (HHAP-2) funding was identified to support the repair costs. The motion directs that $29,380 be appropriated to GSD Fund No. 100/40, Account No. 001014 for salaries and construction projects, and $12,494 to GSD Fund No. 100/40, Account No. 003180 for construction materials. The CAO is authorized to prepare Controller instructions or make technical adjustments to implement these transactions. Consequently, the Navigation Center’s elevator and ADA-compliant showers will be restored to full operation, maintaining essential services for individuals experiencing homelessness.
