The Public Works Committee approved a motion to dedicate the Kipling Triangle parcel (Assessor’s Parcel No. 5690-022-900) at Genevieve Avenue, Kipling Avenue, and Monte Bonito Drive as public right-of-way. This 1,175-square-foot parcel, owned by the Department of General Services, was previously evaluated for housing but deemed infeasible due to an existing sewer line beneath the street and the constrained lot size. With the dedication, the property becomes eligible for the City’s Adopt-A-Median program, enabling neighborhood-led beautification and maintenance of traffic medians. The conversion also supports traffic and pedestrian improvements such as sidewalks, medians, landscaping, signage, and potential utility relocations. City Attorney, with support from the Department of General Services and the Bureau of Engineering, will prepare the ordinance to formalize the dedication. The motion was introduced by Councilmember Kevin de León and seconded by Councilmember Monica Rodriguez. The committee voted unanimously (Hernandez, Padilla, Hutt) to forward the ordinance to the City Council for final approval.
