The City Council denied an appeal by Supporters Alliance for Environmental Responsibility (SAFER) regarding the Sustainable Communities Environmental Assessment (SCEA) for a new eight-story residential building at 1201 North Gower Street and 6121 West Lexington Avenue. The project involves the partial demolition of an existing multi-family complex and construction of a new building with 108 new residential units, resulting in a total of 152 units, of which 16 will be reserved for Very Low Income households and 2 for Low Income households. The project also includes 99 vehicle parking spaces and incentives for reduced open space, increased floor area ratio, and modified setbacks.
This decision supports the development of new housing in a transit-priority area, facilitating increased density and providing affordable housing units in alignment with the City's housing policies and the State Density Bonus Law.
