This ordinance appropriates $8,718,324.98, which includes $8,137,676.00 in annual State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) program funding and $580,648.98 in program income. These funds are allocated to serve very low, low, and moderate-income families through the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity and Florida Housing Finance Corporation. The SHIP program aims to create and preserve affordable homeownership and multifamily housing through various activities, including emergency repairs, new construction, rehabilitation, down payment and closing cost assistance, and property acquisition for affordable housing. The bill also approves the creation of two positions to support the SHIP program, fully funded by the grant dollars. The funds must be committed to eligible projects by June 30, 2027, and fully expended by June 30, 2028.
