The City Council of Jacksonville denied a request to rezone approximately 4.86 acres at 6210 and 6211 Pernecia Street. The applicant, Jacob Parker, sought to reclassify the property from Residential Rural-Acre (RR-Acre) to Planned Unit Development (PUD) to permit single-family dwellings. The proposed development envisioned 50-foot wide and 5,000 square foot lots, effectively creating an RLD-50 zoning. However, the Planning Department and City Council found the proposed rezoning inconsistent with the 2045 Comprehensive Plan, incompatible with existing surrounding land uses (RLD-60 zoning), and a form of undesirable spot zoning. The denial was supported by public comment during the hearing.
