The Jacksonville City Council has enacted Ordinance 2025-15, designating the commercial building at 29 East Adams Street as a local landmark. The two-story masonry building, originally built in 1915 and redesigned in 1965, displays significant mid-century architectural influences. This designation, requested by the Jacksonville Historic Preservation Commission, recognizes the property's cultural, historical, and architectural value. Future exterior alterations, new construction, demolition, or relocation will now require a Certificate of Appropriateness, as per Chapter 307 of the Ordinance Code. The property owner, Plaka Main Street Inc., did not oppose the designation. The City Council approved the ordinance by an 18-0 vote on February 25, 2025, following a 7-0 approval by the LUZ committee.
