An ordinance was introduced by the Land Use and Zoning Committee to rezone approximately 5.91 acres in Council District 4, owned by Restoration Church Jacksonville, Inc. The rezoning changes the designation of multiple parcels from Commercial Residential and Office (CRO), Commercial Community/General-2 (CCG-2), and Residential Low Density-60 (RLD-60) Districts to a Planned Unit Development (PUD) District. The new PUD district will permit a church, day care center, schools, single family dwellings, and offices. The Planning Commission and the Land Use and Zoning Committee both made advisory recommendations to the Council for approval. The Council found the rezoning consistent with the 2045 Comprehensive Plan and not in conflict with city land use regulations, and that it would not adversely affect orderly development, health, safety, the natural environment, or adjacent properties. The rezoning was approved by the City Council with an 18-0 vote. The applicant for this rezoning was Braxton Linton.
