The Houston City Council has approved the final contract amount of $15,318,726.78 and accepted the work for the Alief Village and Belle Park #2 Lift Station Diversions project, which came in 4.01% under the original contract amount. This project, part of the City's Capital Improvement Plan for wastewater collections, was crucial for meeting the City's lift station renewal and replacement program, specifically to address undersized and poorly conditioned Alief Village and Belle Park #2 Lift Stations through diversion and abandonment. The scope of work included the demolition and abandonment of the lift stations, the construction of 10-inch, 12-inch, 15-inch, 18-inch, and 24-inch gravity sanitary sewers using open-cut and micro-tunnel construction methods, and the removal and replacement of approximately 5,400 square yards of concrete pavement. IDS Engineering Group designed the project, which was awarded to Reytec Construction Resources, Inc. The final cost represents a decrease of $640,645.22 from the original $15,959,372.00 contract amount due to differences in planned versus measured quantities. The project achieved satisfactory M/WBE participation of 8.74% MBE, 5.85% WBE, and 1.05% SBE, meeting good faith efforts requirements.
