The Houston City Council is considering accepting the completed work for the Neighborhood Sewer Rehabilitation Program from Lopez Utilities Contractor, LLC. This project involved wastewater collection system rehabilitation, including pipe replacement, pipe bursting, and cured-in-place pipe methods across Council Districts A, B, C, D, F, G, H, I, J, and K. The purpose was to renew/replace deteriorated neighborhood collection systems throughout the City to reduce sanitary sewer overflows and maintain compliance with Houston's proposed wastewater consent decree with EPA and TCEQ. The final contract amount is $4,905,516.91, which is 3.36% over the original contract amount of $4,745,900.27 and within the 5% contingency. The project was completed within the original 730 calendar days. The contractor's M/WBE participation was rated satisfactory due to good faith efforts, achieving 18.08% MBE and 0.59% WBE against goals of 20.20% MBE and 9.17% WBE.
