The City Council of Houston consented to the addition of 333.13 acres of vacant land to Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 493. This land is proposed for development as single-family residential properties, including detention ponds, roadways, and open space. Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 493 was created in 2007 by TCEQ and currently encompasses 627.61 acres. The proposed annexation tract is located near Langham Creek, Katy-Hockley Road, Cypress Creek, and Grand Parkway. The Utility District Review Committee evaluated the application, confirming that wastewater treatment will be provided by Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 418 Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 2 and potable water by Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 418 Water Plant No. 3. The tract is partly within the 100-year floodplain (64.5%). All plans for construction of water conveyance, wastewater collection, and storm water systems within the District must be approved by the City prior to construction. The Utility District Review Committee recommended approval.
