The City of Houston City Council passed an ordinance consenting to the addition of 3.534 acres of vacant land to Harris-Fort Bend Counties Municipal Utility District No. 1. This district was established in 1978 and encompasses 504.297 acres within Harris and Fort Bend Counties. The newly added land, located within Houston's extraterritorial jurisdiction, is intended for commercial development. The Utility District Review Committee evaluated the petition, confirming plans for wastewater collection and treatment, potable water distribution, and stormwater conveyance. Wastewater treatment will be provided by Harris-Fort Bend Counties Municipal Utility District No. 5, and potable water by Harris-Fort Bend Counties Municipal Utility District No. 5 Water Plant No. 1. The annexation tract is not within the 100- or 500-year floodplain. All future construction plans for utility systems within the district must be approved by the City of Houston prior to commencement.
