The City Council approved the release of a 2.434-acre parcel of Humble ISD land from the City of Houston's extra-territorial jurisdiction (ETJ) for annexation into the City of Humble. The tract, located northeast of the intersection of Wilson Road and Will Clayton Parkway, will facilitate the development of a new Ross Sterling Middle School and expanded sports facilities adjacent to Lakeland Elementary. The release eliminates duplicative municipal review processes and addresses jurisdictional confusion in policing and service provision. Houston Public Works confirmed it cannot provide water or wastewater services to the area, and the City of Humble has expressed intent to annex. The action follows a prior 98.08-acre release in 2020 (Ordinance 2020-435).
