The City Council approved an ordinance authorizing the first amendment to the Subrecipient Agreement between the City of Houston and SEARCH Homeless Services, providing an additional $1,111,687 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Homeless Housing and Services Program (HHSP), and Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) funds. This amendment extends funding through January 31, 2026 and will support housing case management, navigation, and engagement services at SEARCH’s Engagement Center, serving approximately 770 individuals. Included funding allocates $554,327 in CDBG for program services and $57,360 for administrative costs, $400,000 in HHSP, and $100,000 from the TIRZ Affordable Housing Fund. SEARCH has delivered similar services under City funding since 1996 and recently exceeded 144% of its enrollment goal while utilizing 97% of prior funding.
