The Houston City Council approved an ordinance consenting to the annexation of 14.64 acres of vacant land into the Bridgestone Municipal Utility District. Originally created by the TCEQ in 1976, the district currently includes 2,331.2883 acres and lies within Houston’s extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ). The annexation area is planned for multi-family residential development and is located near FM 2920, Spring Stuebner Road, Kuykendahl Road, and Gosling Road. The annexation does not remove the land from Houston’s ETJ. Wastewater treatment for the tract will be provided by the district’s own facility, and potable water will also be supplied by the district. The tract is outside the 100- and 500-year floodplains and drains into Upper Seals Gully, part of the Cypress Creek watershed. All utility construction plans must be approved by the City of Houston.

Why it Matters

This annexation facilitates managed residential development within Houston's ETJ and ensures that proper infrastructure and utility services are provided under city oversight. It supports strategic growth while protecting environmental and service standards.
