The Houston City Council approved an ordinance consenting to the annexation of 453.2416 acres of land into Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 570D. The District, created in 2019, originally consisted of only 0.937 acres and lies within the City of Houston’s extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ). The proposed tracts are currently vacant and are planned for a mix of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional development. These areas are not in the 100- or 500-year floodplain and will be serviced by the Grand Prairie Wastewater Treatment Plant and Water Plant. Major stormwater drainage will flow through Rock Hollow Creek, which connects to Cypress Creek and ultimately into Lake Houston. The District agreed to obtain City approval for all infrastructure plans. The Utility District Review Committee reviewed the petition and recommended approval.
This annexation supports the expansion of utility services and infrastructure to accommodate future residential and commercial growth in Houston’s ETJ. It ensures that development occurs with oversight and aligns with regional planning and environmental standards.
