The City of Houston has consented to the addition of 1.856 acres of vacant land to Harris-Fort Bend Counties Municipal Utility District No. 1. The land is proposed to be developed for commercial purposes and is located within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City. The district will provide wastewater treatment through its Wastewater Treatment Plant, which also serves Harris-Fort Bend Counties Municipal Utility District No. 5. Potable water will be provided by the district. The nearest major drainage facility is the Willowfork Drainage Ditch, flowing into the Barker Reservoir and eventually into the Buffalo Bayou. The annexation tract is not within the 100- or 500-year floodplain.
This annexation allows for the expansion of Harris-Fort Bend Counties Municipal Utility District No. 1, supporting infrastructure development and commercial growth in the area. The addition of this land ensures that necessary services such as wastewater collection and storm water management are provided to new developments, while maintaining alignment with the City of Houston's planning and environmental standards.
