The City and County of Denver approved a Third Amendatory Agreement with Jewish Family Service of Colorado, Inc. to extend and expand the Temporary Rental and Utility Assistance (TRUA) Program. The agreement adds $779,775.00 in Affordable Housing Property Tax funds, bringing the total contract amount to $2,527,392.00. The program's term is extended by five months, now ending on May 31, 2026. TRUA provides rental assistance, utility assistance, and housing case management services to approximately 185 eligible low- and moderate-income households citywide. The assistance aims to prevent evictions and maintain housing stability for residents experiencing financial hardship. It includes rental arrears, current and future rent, utility payments, and relocation expenses such as security deposits and application fees. Case management services encompass housing stability planning, financial counseling, employment support, and referrals to community resources. The program ensures services adhere to Fair Housing requirements and HUD income limits (up to 80% AMI).
