The Denver City Council approved a contract with Iron Woman Construction & Environmental Services, LLC for $20,352,466.50 to undertake the East 16th Avenue Storm Phase 2 project. This project, located in Council District 9, aims to extend and upsize the stormwater drainage system in the Montclair Basin to address severe and frequent neighborhood flooding. The project will tie into an existing storm drain system at Albion Street, south of East 17th Avenue, and extend eastward through Batavia Place. The work includes a full reconstruction of the roadway and utilities, as well as drainage improvements. The bid also includes an optional alternate extension from Bellaire Street to Clermont Street.
This project is a crucial step in mitigating recurring flood risks in the Montclair Basin. The investment will improve stormwater drainage, enhance roadway and utility infrastructure, and protect local properties from water damage.
